Associate Professor Rafael Zambelli Pinto is a physiotherapist and researcher in the Discipline of Physiotherapy at the University of Technology Sydney. His research focuses on chronic musculoskeletal pain, particularly low back pain and pain in older people. He uses clinical trials, evidence synthesis, implementation research and co-design to develop and evaluate evidence-based approaches to pain management.

Rafael completed his PhD at the University of Sydney in 2013. He subsequently worked at the Pain Management Research Institute, at the Royal North Shore Hospital, before holding academic positions at São Paulo State University and the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil. From 2023 to 2024, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for Pain IMPACT.

Rafael has published more than 160 articles in physiotherapy and medical journals. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the Brazilian Journal of Physical Therapy from 2019 to 2024 and is Chair of the International Society of Physiotherapy Journal Editors.
