Biography

Dr Nahian Chowdhury is a Research Fellow at NeuRA, Conjoint Lecturer at UNSW, and Head of Neurostimulation at the NeuroRecovery Research Hub. His work uses non-invasive brain stimulation (tDCS, rTMS) and TMS–EEG to understand neuroplastic mechanisms of chronic pain and develop biomarker-guided neuromodulation treatments.

He aims to identify EEG and TMS biomarkers that predict pain vulnerability and treatment response, enabling personalised neuromodulation therapies for chronic pain.

Research Themes

  • Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation for Chronic Pain
  • Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS)
  • Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS)
  • TMS–EEG Biomarkers
  • Neuroplastic Mechanisms of Pain Modulation
  • Brain Biomarkers for Chronic Pain
